Partnering with Parents & Alumni

The WLFS Future Steps Careers ProgrammeAt the heart of our Future Steps Careers Programme is a belief that young people benefit enormously from hearing about real pathways, real choices and real experiences beyond school.

As a young school, we are proud of the strong partnerships we are building with parents, carers and the wider community. Until our alumni network grows, this support plays a vital role in helping pupils understand the breadth of opportunities available to them and how their interests and strengths can shape their futures.

How parents and carers support Future Steps

We actively invite parents and members of our community to contribute in a variety of ways, depending on time, expertise and interest. This includes:

Sharing experiences through talks and presentations as part of our Year 12 Speaker Programme, helping students connect subjects to careers and understand different pathways.

Attending our Careers Fair, giving pupils the opportunity to ask questions, explore roles and learn about industries they may not otherwise encounter.

Speaking to smaller subject or interest groups, offering insight into how specific subjects link to careers and further study.

Hosting pupils for work placements or insight days, giving students first‑hand experience of the workplace and helping them develop confidence, curiosity and professionalism. Each of these contributions helps pupils make informed, thoughtful decisions about their next steps, while meeting the Gatsby expectation of meaningful encounters with employers and professionals.
